 No. 16-1-18 |
Hintha 3B, prior to 1868
weight mass: 1 viss / 100 tical (1'506 g) height: 111 mm / 4.37 in base: hexagonal
remarkable: A fraudulent merchant's weight! Here we have a rare situation that - probably due to a mistake in the foundry process or rather an intended action of a fraudulent merchant - a cavity remained in the body of the bird with a hidden opening to the tail (please see b/w image).
As a result of the lack of bronze the weight mass is about 100 g too low: target weight 1'633 g (100 tical), actual weight mass 1'506 g (about 92 tical only).
A collector's curiosity!

The weight is in very good condition with rich traces of black lacquer. Where the extremities are worn, the golden bronze colour emerges, also at the bottom of the base. An interesting, collectible weight.

A very few traces of red coating on the base and "third leg".
