Hintha H3/H4, Gears group 2, ca. 1820 - 1885
(weights not for sale)

16-1-18
No. 16-1-18
Hintha 3B, prior to 1868

weight mass: 1 viss / 100 tical (1'506 g)
height: 111 mm / 4.37 in
base: hexagonal

remarkable: A fraudulent merchant's weight!
Here we have a rare situation that - probably due to a mistake in the foundry process or rather an intended action of a fraudulent merchant - a cavity remained in the body of the bird with a hidden opening to the tail (please see b/w image). As a result of the lack of bronze the weight mass is about 100 g too low: target weight 1'633 g (100 tical), actual weight mass 1'506 g (about 92 tical only).

A collector's curiosity!

14-1-05
No. 14-1-05

Weight mass: 50 tical (788 g)
Height: 92 mm / 3.62 in
verification mark: not visible anymore

Age: ca. 1820

Remarkable: The Hintha 3A1 with handle and typically two bands of neck feathers is in very good condition with all signs of use, beautiful dark-brown, partly greenish patina.

verification mark: 6-rayed star

The Hintha stands proud and upright, with broad chest and strong body.
Beautiful multi-colour patina. Two rows of neck feathers. Verification mark (6-rayed star front right) is still visible. Even worn with smooth surface and rounded edges to the base, the weight is still in good condition.

Weight mass: 1/2 viss (796 g)

Age: ca. 1850

Verification mark: None

Base: hexagonal to circular

15-2-10
No. 15-2-10

Hintha 3B, prior to 1868

weight mass: 50 tical (795 g)
height: 89 mm / 3.5 in
verificationmark: outline of a bird, clear visible
base: hexagonal
Tail: inverted "U" (quite rare)

remarkable: Interestingly each of the big round protruding eyes is decorated with an eyelid. Otherwise the decoration is simple (see wings, base and neck). While the body is compact, there is a greater gap between base and body. In these details the weight is different from common H3B (probably H3A2?). Readjusted with lead. A very few traces of red coating on the base and "third leg".
