Marble "Domed" or "Turtle" weight Burma, 19th century or earlier
reference:
Donald and Joan Gear, Earth to Heaven, Silkworm Books, 2000
Michael Herrfurth and Hartmut Mollat, Arts of Asia, Special Burma Issue, May - June 2013, p. 125
weight: 20 tical (287 g) d x h: 67 x 45 mm / 2.6 x 1.8 in
This rare 20 tical marble weight from Mandalay is strongly worn with smooth surface.
The vertical decoration lines are still well visible.
Probably this weight is also an earlier piece (old standard of 15 g/tical) or lost quite a lot of material due to the daily use on the market over the centuries.

base: octagonal
A fine example of this standard form with rich remnants of black coating and superb bronze patina.

weight: 20 tical (310 g) height: 69 mm / 2.72 in verification mark: precise 9-rayed star mark (barely visible)
base: square
Two deep dotted decoration lines on the base, completed with a horizontal line below. Also the hairs on the four legs represented by dots.
